Life Cycle Cost Analysis for Renovations and Upgrades
A review of life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) applied to existing building renovations, including case studies, who uses LCCA and little known tax incentives

 

Jackson Murphy: Jackson Murphy is business sustainability professional with extensive expertise in the financial aspects of sustainability.  He performs numerous life cycle cost analysis for commercial and governmental clients including the Department of Defense, City of Dallas, and Trademark Properties to name a few.  He has provided strategic business feasibility analysis on projects totaling over $1.45 Billion in value. Jackson is an Adjunct Professor at TCU, holds an Environmental Policy Certificate and is a LEED AP.  He previously served on the Board and Executive Committee of USGBC North Texas and currently serves on the Sustainability Committee of ULI North Texas.

The benefits and challenges of a team approach to sustainability management, including developing and maintaining environmental standards

 

Michele LangenbergMichele Langenberg is Director of Sustainability at Behringer Harvard and a LEED AP.  She oversees the sustainability program for Behringer Harvard's real estate portfolio consisting of more than 120 buildings, including approximately 28 million SF of office space, approximately 10,000 multifamily units and hospitality assets.  Michele has participated in the certification process for both LEED EB:O+M and LEED Core & Shell.  Behringer Harvard has 12 LEED certified office buildings and 2 LEED-certified multi-family projects.  She is also responsible for the sustainable management practices of Behringer Harvard Property Management Company which manages over 22 million SF of commercial office property.  Michele has a BBA in Finance from the University of Iowa, Certificates of Sustainability and Sustainable Development from SMU, and serves as co-chair of USGBC North Texas’ Advocacy Committee.

Financing Sustainable Initiatives
Existing buildings present unique challenges in the drive to green the built environment.  This session explores some of these sustainable capital-improvement issues, why they are important, and possible ways to pay for the upgrades.

 

Anthony Martin: Anthony is a Professional Mechanical Engineer and Director of Project Development at SCIenergy – Catalyst Equity Division, an international company dedicated to optimizing building performance.  He has spent his career designing, auditing, commissioning and modeling sustainable projects in both the new and existing markets.  Anthony has spoken at multiple USGBC, AIA, CSI and ASHRAE events on a variety of sustainable subjects .

Frank DiNellaDirector of Operations and Distribution, Keller ISD.  He has made it his peronal mission to improve the environment of every student and staff member at Keller ISD.  In 2009, under his direction, Keller ISD was the recipient of the EPA's Tools for Schools National Excellence Award for the district's indoor air quality program.
Hudson Huff:  Director of Construction and Planning, Keller ISD.  He has managed over $460 million in construction projects during his eight years with the school district.  Hudson received his BS in Construction Science from Texas A&M University.
