Paul Von Paumgartten
President, Productive Environments, a Sustainability Consulting Firm

Paul holds the position of Senior Green Building Advisor for the Building Efficiency business of Johnson Controls. Paul has been an industry expert and spokesperson for the last 25 years around the issues of energy efficiency, green buildings and sustainable communities.  Paul is one of the original members and served on the board of the U.S. Green Building Council for ten years, having served as Treasurer and co-chair of the LEED® Steering Committee.  He was the chairman of the LEED for Existing Buildings Committee as well as the Finance and Marketing Committees.  Paul was honored with the USGBC’s Leadership Award in 2005 for his work on LEED development.  He also is active in the formation and activities of the Alliance for Sustainable Built Environments, a coalition of suppliers of sustainable products and services.  As a member of the Executive Council of the Energy Efficiency Forum, co-sponsored by Johnson Controls and the U.S. Energy Association, Paul helped bring together business and government leaders (recent years have included Sen. Hillary Clinton and President George W. Bush) to discuss the implications of energy policy. In his 25+ years with Johnson Controls, Paul has served as the director of lighting services and performance contracting along with his managing of the high performance green building business within the company. He was honored in 2008 with the company’s BELL (Building Efficiency Lifetime Leadership) award for his tenure and demonstrated leadership. Before joining Johnson Controls, Paul held the positions of vice president of SPI Lighting; director of national accounts for McGraw Edison Company; and president of his own consulting firm, Productive Environments.

Steve Gossett, Jr
Vice President, Transcend Equity Development Corporation

Mr. Gossett’s career in the energy services industry began when he joined CSI Energy Solutions in 1995. In 1997, Mr. Gossett pioneered the Managed Utility Services Contracting (MUSC) method for developing energy savings projects in the commercial real estate market, developing over $25 million in MUSC projects. Mr. Gossett is active in the Real Estate community, and is a graduate of the Associate Leadership Council for the Real Estate Council (TREC) in Dallas. He was appointed to the board of directors for TREC in 2004, and has served in an advisory capacity for the organization through multiple committees. Mr. Gossett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A & M University, an EIT certification from the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) as well as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Demand Side Manager (CDSM) and Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP) certifications from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Mr. Gossett is also an associate member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT).

Zaida Basora, AIA, LEED AP
Assistant Director, City of Dallas Equipment and Building Services Department

Zaida Basora is a registered architect and sustainability advocate whose leadership took the city’s commitment to sustainability one step further with the adoption of the green building code.  Her work in Dallas was recently recognized with the Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT) 2008 award of excellence for extra large jurisdictions and a 2009 CLIDE Award in the public policy and planning category.  Zaida currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of USGBC North Texas Chapter. 

Robert Moon, PhD
Consultant

Robert is a professional horticulture consultant to a wide range of commercial clients.  He has a Doctor of Philosophy in Crop Science, a Master of Science in Horticulture, and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education, all from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma.  He has most recently conducted training sessions for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit; conducted annual Pesticide Recertification Training Course for the Texas Department of Agriculture; conducted landscape maintenance training for DCCCD Maintenance Personnel; conducted annual training of Maintenance Personnel for Prentiss Properties Limited, Inc. in Dallas, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, and Long Beach, California; conducted maintenance training sessions for the homeowners of the First Colony Community Services Association.

Julio Gonzalez
CEO and Founder, Engineered Tax Services, Inc.

Engineered Tax Services specializes in providing a wide spectrum of engineered accounting solutions, including cost segregation studies, energy tax credits, Green Building and LEED building engineering. Mr. Gonzalez is a pioneer in the tax energy field, he’s devoted to the conservation of resources and to greener building, and he is committed to educating the CPA, Financial Advisor, and Real Estate Investor community on engineered accounting services and the related tax consequences of these services. He speaks nationally on cost segregation studies, green construction and the emerging energy tax programs for organizations such as: World Energy Engineering Conference, Florida Institute of CPAs, California Distance Learning Foundation, and has been published nationally in many CPA and Real Estate Investment Publications.

Chris Boyer, PhD
Chief Technology Officer, Standard Renewable Energy

Chris has over 14 years experience in project management, research and development, system design and new product implementation of alternative energy technologies including: solar, biofuels, clean fuels and fuel cells.  Prior to SRE, Dr. Boyer was a process development leader at Chemical Research & Licensing (CR&L), a division of Shell Global Solutions, who developed new chemical plant processes ranging over a broad array of chemistries from selective hydrogenation to biodiesel. In his role he was responsible for screening new chemistries and processes for technical and economic viability, managing potential candidates through pilot plant testing, providing technical sales support for successful technologies, and directing the start-up and commissioning of first-of a kind plants after construction.  Dr. Boyer started his career leading SBIR research projects at Lynntech, Inc., working with the DOD, DOE, NIH and NASA to rapidly prototype fuel cell and electrolyzer equipment; including the energy storage system for the solar powered, high altitude, unmanned aerial vehicle, Helios.  Dr. Boyer holds several US patents. He has served as an adjunct professor at Texas A&M University and Texas Southern University where he taught courses on Plant Economics, Fuel Cell Systems, and Energy Systems.  Dr. Boyer holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. He is a NABCEP-certified solar PV installer, and is Vice-President of the Houston chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).

Anthony Martin, PE, LEED AP
Associate/Mechanical Engineer, Henderson Engineers

Anthony Martin has been with Henderson Engineers, Inc. since 2001 and is currently an Associate/Mechanical Engineer within the Dallas branch.  Since earning LEED professional accreditation in 2005, his focus has been on sustainable mechanical design as well as commissioning, energy modeling and sustainable advocate.  As the Commissioning Manager of HEI-Dallas, he has overseen the new construction commissioning activities of a wide range of building energy systems and building types/sizes.   Under the LEED for Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance blanket, he has provided such services as LEED “Gap” Analysis, Energy Audit and Retro-commissioning activities.  In addition to his work at Henderson Engineers, Anthony has become a sustainable advocate in the local community providing articles for the local USGBC Chapter Newsletter and speaking at multiple USGBC engagements on energy modeling, commissioning and other sustainable mechanical design concepts.

Lance Bishop, CEM, LEED AP
Sales Team Leader, Schneider Electric

Lance Bishop has been working (and selling) in the green building industry for over 10 years.  He routinely works with clients on helping them lower energy usage and replace equipment through guaranteed energy conservation projects.  Lance also works within his own company, Schneider Electric, on improving its green awareness and lowering its carbon footprint.  He is an active member of the Energy Services Coalition, Association of Energy Engineers, and the US Green Building Council as the local Chair for Green Schools Advocacy.  Lance received an undergraduate degree from Baylor University and an MBA from Duke University.  Given his background, he can speak to the various benefits of going green like financial, environmental, social, security, any various others.  To date, Lance has helped save over 9,500 Tons of Carbon annually or the equivalent of planting 850,000 Trees.        

David Donohue, LEED AP
Principal, Ecology & Environment, Inc.

Ecology & Environment Inc. is an international environmental engineering and consulting company.  With 28 years’ experience, David works with private companies, governmental agencies, and international organizations to develop sustainable solutions to environmental problems and issues. In the alternative transportation field, he works with over 70 cities nationwide on E&E’s alternative transportation solution called GreenRide, a web-based, user-driven software to promote the use of alternatives to the single occupant vehicle.  In North Texas, Mr. Donohue works with NCTCOG on their regional “TryParkingIt” program that uses GreenRide software.  Mr. Donohue has a B.S. degree in Environmental Resource Management from Pennsylvania State University. He is a former board member of the USGBC North Texas Chapter.   

Bill Moebius, RPA, CPM, CCIM, LEED AP
Senior Vice President and Director of Energy and Sustainable Operations, Stream Realty Partners


Bill Moebius is responsible for leading sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives across Stream’s entire managed portfolio of over 40 million square feet and for certain outside clients.  He has over 20 years of property management experience for numerous clients, from both the third party and owner-manager perspective.  Moebius also spent ten years with Trammell Crow Company and three with Kolter Property Management as Director of Property Management. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years as a navigation officer.   He has a BA from Rice University and MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.  Moebius is a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Green Building Council North Texas Chapter and President for the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Southwest Region.        

Scott Layne
Assistant Superintendent for Support Services, Irving ISD

Scott Layne has served as the District liaison for the 1997, 2001, and 2007 bond referendums.  He has served as an assistant to a consulting architect involved in the design and construction of renovations and additions to existing school facilities in the Katy School District, served as Director of School Plant Services for Midland ISD and served in various capacities for Irving ISD.  Mr. Layne is a member of the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO), Association of School Business Officials, the North Texas Maintenance and Operations Association, Association of Energy Engineers, and the Council of Educational Facility Planners, International. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Susan Smith, AIA, LEED AP
Vice President, Corgan Inc.

Susan Smith is a leader in Corgan’s Schools Studio, specializing in the design of educational facilities and their related spaces.  She has worked with some of the largest top-growth school districts in Texas including Northwest Independent School District (ISD), Frisco ISD and Denton ISD.  Susan’s projects have been acknowledged by the Texas Association of School Boards and School Adminstrators for Architectural Excellence in Design, Value, Process of Planning and Educational Appropriateness.  Susan graduated from Texas A&M University with a master of architecture degree.

Don Penn, PE, CGD
President, Image Engineering Group and Don Penn Consulting Engineer

Don Penn is a professional mechanical and electrical engineer licensed in 49 states and a Certified GeoExchange Designer.  Since 199I, he has designed over 160 school projects involving geothermal heat pump systems for school districts in Texas and served as a consultant for geothermal heat pump applications at Harvard University and a 400,000 square foot IRS Facility in Maryland.   Penn recently received the Cornerstone Award from the Council of Educational Facility Planners (CEFPI) for his involvement in a Katrina Task Force aiding in the restoration of numerous school facilities in St. Bernard’s Parish, an area damaged in the 2005 hurricane.

Vicki Taliaferro, LEED AP O+M
Chief Engineer of Aesthetics, Gaylord Texan

Vicki Taliaferro is leading the Gaylord Texan's pursuit of LEED O&M certification. She has been employed by Gaylord Texas since 2003, before their opening.  Vicki is a LEED EB O+M AP and a member of the LEED O&M Committee of USGBC North Texas. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business and is currently working on her Masters in Accounting at TWU.

Sandra Heffernan, LEED AP
President and Founder, Sustainable Partners, LLC

Sandra Heffernan, LEED AP, brings a passion for conservation and more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience to her role as Founder and President of Sustainable Partners, LLC.  A full-service LEED consulting firm, Sustainable Partners, LLC educates and assists clients in adopting green programs for existing and newly constructed buildings.  Prior to establishing her firm, Sandra spent 15 years with Dutch real estate firm Wereldhave USA, Inc. where her passion for conservation met real-world application.  At Wereldhave, Heffernan played an integral role in developing the McKinney Green Building, one of the first privately held LEED Certified Core and Shell Platinum buildings in the United States.  She is a member of the Texas Recycling Coalition, national and North Texas chapters of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), and the International Facility Managers Association (IFMA).      

Carlos Ochoa
Principal, LUMA

Carlos A Ochoa is the founder of Lit Technologies (dedicated to research and development of new alternatives for energy conservation)  and New Era Lighting (dedicated to marketing high output fluorescent lighting), which merged with Focus Asset Management to create what is known today as LUMA.  LUMA is a cutting-edge company dedicated to addressing energy saving lighting for commercial, industrial, institutional and government facilities.  He graduated from the Guatemalan School for Air Force Mechanics with a Bachelor in Science and Literature and migrated to the US in the mid 1990s.        

Andrew Clendenen, LEED AP
LEED Certification Business Unit Manager, Class One Solutions, Inc.

Andrew Clendenen is the LEED Certification Business Unit Manager at Class One Solutions, Inc., a Dallas based engineering firm specializing in sustainable facility design and LEED Certification consulting. Andrew holds a BS, in finance from St. Edwards University in Austin.  He is a member of the North Texas USGBC and currently Co-Chairs the LEED Existing Building Committee.

Larry Boldt
Vice President, Conception to Reality

Conception to Reality is a full-service project management and event managment enterprise.  Larry specializes in consulting on water efficiency.  Larry has 20 years of water treatment experience in the North Texas market and throughout the United States.  He has extensive experience with cooling water and boiler applications, as well as, wastewater treatment.  Larry has a BS in Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, is a member of the LEED EB Committee and Coordinator of USGBC North Texas Chapter's expos.
